Word Nerd
Interaction Design II
In this class we were tasked with finding a problem or annoyance in our every day life and creating a UX ecosystem to help this problem.
Word Nerd is a website to help users learn from flash cards and study their vocabulary. With help from a browser plug-in, users choose words relevant to them and immediately add them to their study sets.

Once I decided on an ecosystem where I can solve my problem, the website and browser plug-in, I began research and started to plan the architecture of my website.
I benchmarked from other websites, ones for studying, for students, even Spotify for specific features. I created a User Journey and Empathy Map to define and know my users.
Next, I drew paper prototypes to test with my classmates, based on this initial feedback I made prototypes in Figma. I tested these prototypes with different users and interviewed them on their experience, I simplified and made layout changes to create a more intuitive experience.
The final design of the website is bright and welcoming, but not too overwhelming. There is lots of white space to focus on the important part, the vocabulary.
The plug-in allows users to quickly add new words to their vocabulary sets right from wherever they are reading, or they can “Like” the word for to be later organized.
